The northern German shipping company family FRS originates from Flensburg and founded FRS Portugal in early 2021 with a lot of passion and hopes of a beautiful travel season. The new offer is especially tailored for vacationers and tourists who want to visit Lisbon and create unique memories. Since July 2021, FRS Portugal has been a member of Turismo de Lisboa, the important Visitors Bureau of Lisbon. The non-profit organisation was established in 1997 and aims to promote information for tourists on the beautiful Portuguese city. Since 2004, cultivating of international tourism promotion for this attractive travel destination has been their core business. We are very proud to be part of their diverse portfolio and look forward to this fruitful partnership.
Our patron FRS embodies family tradition and at the same time innovative concepts. For example, the ferry shipping company from Flensburg is family-run and emphasizes customer service at eye level. At the same time, FRS is a pioneer of LNG technology and operates two of these novel and modern ferries between Germany and Denmark with its subsidiary FRS Syltfähre.

Today, the corporate history of FRS now goes back more than 150 years. Since then, the northern German shipowner has made a name for itself both nationally and internationally with its expertise in ferry shipping. But FRS's portfolio even extends beyond that: In addition to ferry connections around the world, its range of services includes maritime consulting and other maritime services such as terminal management and offshore crew transfers in cooperation with Windcat Workboats.
The FRS family consists of more than 1,500 employees from over 42 countries and more than 70 ferries of various types. In addition to smaller passenger ferries, the FRS fleet also includes high-speed jets and double-ended ferries – as well as a real Aqua Convertible with a sliding sunroof here at FRS Portugal. In regular years, the FRS family carries approximately 8 million passengers and 2 million vehicles in more than 10 countries.
Thanks to the expertise of the internationally experienced FRS shipping group, it was possible to launch this new kind of tourist offer on the Tagus River for guests in Lisbon in a very short period of time. Despite the tricky situation for tourist providers, we succeeded in creating a resilient hygiene concept that can protect our guests in the best possible way. In addition to daily River Cruises, Sunset Cruise Lisbon can also be scheduled in the evenings, which promise a special ambience due to relaxing background music and a culinary menu.
