General Information about the Lisbon Metro

The Lisbon Metro is known for its speed and reliability. It consists of four lines: Blue, Red, Green, and Yellow, covering large parts of the city.

The metro network serves northern, eastern, and southern districts of Lisbon. However, the western part of the city is not covered by the metro system. In these areas, you can use buses or trams to get around.

A particularly important route for travelers is the connection between the airport and the city center, which is accessible via the Red Line (Linha Vermelha). The metro also provides direct connections to major train stations, such as Santa Apolónia on the Blue Line (Linha Azul) and Oriente on the Red Line (Linha Vermelha).

Discover a sightseeing boat tour via the Blue Line

One of the most popular destinations for visitors in Lisbon is Praça do Comércio. This large and lively square is accessible via the metro station Terreiro do Paço on the Blue Line (Linha Azul).

A short walk toward the Tagus River leads to a recommended pier operated by FRS Portugal. From here, regular boat tours depart, offering scenic trips along the river, passing some of Lisbon’s most famous landmarks.
